Loose Dried Valerian Root 30g

Valerian Root is a traditional medicinal herb used to aid sleep. It'salso used to help calm animals who are experiencing stress - including cats, dogs, and horses. 

Valerian is entirely safe to give to your cat or dog if they are frightened - just give them a pinch of the herb on their food or on it's own - cats especially love the smell and taste and will roll in it or lick it from your hand if you let them! The smell for humans, however, is a little less plesant - I've always described it as 'Like you left your dirty rugby kit in a hot car for a fortnight'! You will almost certainly want to keep this in an airtight container!

For human use, it can be made into a tea. It is, however, a very potent herb and should not be used in conjunction with alcohol or for children under 10. Please also consult your doctor or pharmacist first if you are taking any type of sedative, antidepressant or anti-psychotic medication with secondary sedative effects. 

Whilst the rest of our herbs are supplied in plastic-free packaging, owing to the strong aroma of valerian, we will package this in a gripseal plastic bag to avoid odour contamination with anything else in your package, and to avoid upsetting your postal carrier or having the package torn into by an overly enthusiastic cat or dog - we speak from experience in this matter!
