Star Anise is a popular culinary spice, and is the seed pod from the fruit of the Illicium Verum plant, an evergreen shrub native to Southwest China. It imparts a strong aniseed-type flavour and is popular in Chinese cuisine. It is one of the 5 spices in Chinese 5 Spice Powder. It's also an essential seasoning for the Vietnamese soup Pho.
Our Star Anise is supplied as the whole seed pod, and is grown in its native China. It is supplied in a simple paper bag.
